This year was not our time to have all the children here on Christmas Day. When they are married you must share. As much as I could keep them to myself I am understanding more and more that other relationship. So on Christmas Day itself there were the two younger daughters and a boyfriend.
It was a quiet day. Opening of gifts and a wonderful lunch.
The day after was a different story. Thirteen here. Five of them grandchildren. Chaos! The opening of gifts took several hours. Enough that we had to have an intermission and naps for the little ones!
I had been knitting for weeks and everything moved so fast in those last days before gift giving that I forgot to take pictures! So really... I am just moving on. New knitting is on the needles and I will share it Wednesday on Yarn Along.
In other news....as the New Year begins this blog is going to take on a new look. Not in graphics, but in content. I have spent much time over the last weeks thinking about why I began this. I am really not a writer and no amount of practicing can make me something I am not. I want to direct the posts to my family, grandchildren and knitting. Most importantly, I don't want to be tied to a schedule. So this is the last Week Ending post.. I know that you have encouraged me to keep it going, but I need to be true to myself. Trying to fit in to a group where I really don't belong ( young bloggers making a name out there) is really not me. I want to really post when it is important to me and not because someone is waiting on me.
I value all of you and I hope that you will continue to check in and offer comments. I will continue to read your blogs as well and our friendship will blossom from there!
It is still the Christmas season here as we celebrate The Feast of the Holy Family today. Mary, a sinless mother, her child, our God, and Joseph the Protector are the family we need to look to and imitate as we teach those around us. I am fascinated by the miracle of our God creating his own parents as he created each of us and then coming into this world through them as a baby. That thought alone will keep me occupied for a long while!
Happy New Year to all!
The yarn is beautiful, but I agree wet yarn is not good!
ReplyDeleteI hope we are able to plan our visit soon, I've been thinking about it throughout this Christmas season, my son leaves on Jan 1 and I'm available after that!
Merry Christmas to you!
I have to make an out of town trip at the end of this week. But we will make time soon!
DeleteHello, just found you about a week ago. I am an older mom too and really do hear you about the younger mom bloggers. I am an empty-nester as well and am just looking for people in the same place in life, sharing the same values and interests. I don't blog much either for the same reasons. I do hope that you won't mind if I stick around a bit and get to know you just a little? Thanks and blessings to you and your family.
ReplyDeleteI, too, am an older blogger. I hope you'll come visit me at athousandgeneration.blogspot.com.

DeleteWanda, thanks for having thought of the idea for Week Ending and hosting it for as long as you did. I'm happy for you, however, that you found greater clarity about the purpose of your blog. God bless us, every one!
