It Was All About the Car

I made a little trip south to Austin this weekend.  One of the daughters resides there and asked me to come.  When asked to come..... I go.

On the road, I like to hit the interstate before the rest of humanity.  I 35, what we call The Highway of Death, is not a fun drive.  You want to get on and off as quickly as possible!

Stella got to ride in my car around Austin and we had a little walk along Bull Creek. I had never been to this part of Austin and didn't bring the walking shoes for it.  We didn't stay long.  Just enough to get Stella out for a bit.
Mostly we ate and talked.  Austin is know for its great food and it never dissapoints.  We have our favorites and Sunday morning was mimosas and eggs benedict.

This is what my car looked like on the return trip.  She's moving.  It is settled and I am deep in thought.  Montana is far from Texas.  I knew when she came back to Texas 2 years ago, I would have her for only a short while.  She loves new places and new experiences.  I am grateful for the time I have had her close.  It doesn't make it any easier though.  God's speed dear Caitlin!

But, there was some fabric shopping, so hop over to Drawstrings to see what I brought back!

  1. I love seeing Caitlin spelled the proper way! Can you tell I have a Caitlin too. This is our first year to have her in college, so I am experiencing the chick out of the nest for the first time. I guess I should be happy that I will only have to go through the experience once more with our younger daughter, but that's not really helping. Good luck to yours.

    1. Yes, I have always cringed when I see the spelling of Caitlin changed. It is so lovely in its original four daughters off to college, it never gets easier!

  2. I also love the way you spell Caitlin, such a beautiful name. Montana? I must admit to a little bit of jealousy there. As much as I love Texas and living near my family, I always have a case of wanderlust and experiencing new places and people. I drove through Montana once and absolutely fell in love. I hope she is very happy there!
I 35 is the drive of death, we absolutely detest that drive, I know exactly what you mean!

    1. Yes, she has that wanderlust in her blood. I do sometimes think it is the Indian blood she has in her! I am 1/4 Cherokee! But I must admit there is a guy involved in this change.
