Yarn Along

~ Two of my favorite things are knitting and reading. I love seeing what other people are knitting and reading as well. So, what are you knitting or crocheting right now? What are you reading?

I've made progress this week. Mr. golfer and I have been watching a Masterpiece drama together and that has forced me to sit and knit.  Well, I don't have to be forced, but sitting during the day is not something I do.  I am up and busy with little time to tend to my hobby.  The progress has been about 6 inches and I think the gifting of this may be delayed about a month, so I'm not feeling quite as pressured.

I chose this to be the first book from my library stash gathered last week.  I have read all of Jennifer's books.  She wrote the Elm Quilt series for years.  Recently, she has delved into political historical fiction.  A little twist from her usual.  they are not complicated reads and I like something simple to mix in with my non-fiction.

I've been writing the story of the loss of my brother and mother.  If you would like to read along you will find day 1here, day 2 here, and day 3 here.

  1. I just caught up on your posts about your mother and brother. I am anxious to hear your story. I lost my brother and only sibling 8 months ago. What smart thinking of your husband to get your mom to sign those papers. We had a similar situation with my grandfather who died last week. At 101 he was still refusing to sign anything and thought he could take care of it all. Oh so stubborn!

  2. I love that yarn and stitch pattern! I've never seen ribs and garter stitch combined, it looks wonderful!
I just read your recollections about your mother's death too, you had an incredibly traumatic time. Sometimes being heard telling the story is one of the best therapies. x

  5. Your knitting is beautiful. I have read a couple of Jennifer Chiaverini's books. My daughter recently gave me a couple of the Elm Creek Quilt books. I will be reading your recollections shortly.
