~ Two of my favorite things are knitting and reading, and the evidence of this often shows up in my photographs. I love seeing what other people are knitting and reading as well. So, what are you knitting or crocheting right now? What are you reading?
Never in my history of knitting have I finished something so large so quickly. Eight days and a blanket was complete. Do understand that I had several days alone and a couple of those without a car, but really? That is some marathon knitting!
I was curious as to how these colors would work together and the outside and inside light shows the contrast well. I added the white to break up what I thought would be a darkness.
There is no written pattern for this. It originated from the Rocketry baby cardigan. I had found this picture and loved the colors and texture, but there was no pattern. This knitter had used the cardigan to launch her own blanket. I used her meager notes and took off on my own. I call this Erica's blanket. Her new little daughter will soon be wrapped in all these stitches. She made a special request for one of my blankets and I obliged.
Linking up with Ginny today!
So pretty Wanda!
ReplyDeleteThat's lovely, Wanda! I love the bit of texture where the colors meet. Such a lucky baby to have such a gorgeous blanket. :) xo
ReplyDeleteDid you use the worsted weight Knitpicks for this blanket? I think I remember that, but you know memory can't be trusted after 50. ;-)
ReplyDeleteI need a new project and while I don't have a baby to knit for there are always babies somewhere.
I found your notes in a past Yarn Along. I just ordered some yarn, though I decided to use Shine Worsted, and knit picks was out of the beautiful purple you used, so I went with reef (a deep aqua). I might just knit this for a future grandchild. Were you happy with your seed stitch edge, rather than picking up stitches and knitting a border after the stripes are finished?
DeleteBarbara, you will be happy with the Shine. It feels very much like the Comfy, just a little less Pima cotton. When knitting something with colors I really don't like the look of boxing the colors in with a border. My preference is to let them flow to the edge. Can't wait to see yours!!
DeleteIf you had it to do over again would you keep your stripes the same size (it looks like ten rows) or make them wider to avoid so much end-weaving (I really, really dislike end-weaving)? ;-)
DeleteI dislike the weaving as well, but I wouldn't change a thing! I really liked the width because it al,lowed me to place my own arrangement in a reasonable size blanket.
DeleteWhoa, that's good going!!! I love those colours together, so soft and dreamy. There's a nice surprise for you on my blog today :-)
ReplyDeletebeautiful!!!! :)

ReplyDeleteI think you broke a knitting record, love the blanket and the colors :)
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful! What a sweet gift to be treasured! :)
ReplyDeleteThe colors work beautifully together! And 8 days to knit a blanket, wow! I am impressed! I think I might get 8 rows knit in 8 days ;-)
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful blanket. I can't believe you finished it in 8 days. I have never even crocheted a blanket that quickly.
ReplyDeleteI love the colors you chose for this blanket! Fast work, indeed!
ReplyDeleteWanda! It's just beautiful! Love the colors and the textured row that blends each colorway change. :)
