A Very Special 60th!

It happens only once and it should be a blast.  The party was scheduled to happen at our oldest daughter's house.  Twenty four hours before the party she fell ill with a nasty flu/virus.  We quickly regrouped and moved it to our friend's home who was sharing the birthday with us.

We have known Rush for a number of years.  Some of our children had been aquainted in their younger days.  When our oldest daughter was engaged, Jerry and I began to take ballroom dance lessons and we met Rush again as he was learning as well!  What began as a simple reuniting flourished into dinner every Friday night after lessons.  Rush, his wife Mary, and Jerry and I have eaten together every Friday night for the last 8 years!!  Now I should clarify there may have been just a very few that didn't happen due to illness or trips, but you get the point.  It is a standing date.

Well these two men also turn 60 within 2 weeks of each other, so a party had to be in the works.  With about 30 family and friends, Mary and I threw a great party.  Fajitas and barbecue, a cake big enough for 60 candles and Jerry's favorite.....bread pudding from The Fort Worth Club.

But, I have to say my favorite moment was him opening his gift.  He has had a winter fedora for a number of years.  Not many men can pull off a hat, but he actually has women stop him on the street and compliment him.  For several years he has wanted one for summer.  This year I found just the right one.  Don't you agree he rocks it!

Happy Birthday to the love of my life!
