Yarn Along

~ Two of my favorite things are knitting and reading, and the evidence of this often shows up in my photographs.  I love seeing what other people are knitting and reading as well. So, what are you knitting or crocheting right now? What are you reading?

The Lace Braid Blanket lacks only the top border of 10 rows of garter stitch. As much as I love knitting for grand babies, I am ready to be finished with this one.  Baby blankets have been my life the last few years and a little selfish knitting is rearing its head. It will be beautiful and once blocked, almost twice its length and width.

I didn't take the blanket with me on our trip.  I wanted a project that would not be cumbersome to carry around and it was a good choice.

You might remember I had started The Aranami Shawl from Knit Picks Cotton to see how the sizing was going to be.  I took the Blue Sky Alpaca I had purchased in Michigan and began the shawl on this trip.  It turned out to be the perfect tote along project.

Don't you just love it! There are two more colors to add and then I shall see how the alpaca affects me.  This may end up being gifted.

I seem to have a little bit of startitis. As soon as I got home I cast on for a pair of socks.  Not sure why as it was quite warm in New Brunswick, but maybe just anticipating the fall.

This is a Mad Tosh yarn but I don't have a ball band to give you info.  It will be The Rivercat Socks.  It looks to be a very similar colorway and I really need a neutral sock.

And then tonight I plan on casting on the Haruni Shawl.  Today was a big Grandmother decision for me and the story on the pattern touches on grandmothers.  Seemed appropriate. The yarn is from Little Green Finch, a one of a kind  from Austin.  I picked this up on my last trip to see my daughter. Guage Knits was the shop. There is 600 yards in this skein!

Reading is variable and always there are stacks of books.  Tuesday is my library day so this is what I came home with today.

Not sure where I will begin, but lots of choices!

Thank you Ginny for providing this wonderful link up!  It is the highlight of my week!

  4. I LOVE your blanket and that will be one happy baby! I know what you mean about wanting to knit for yourself. I've got to finish the current projects first before I can finish my sweater. It's too hot right now to think about a sweater!

  15. All of your WIPs looks lovely! I love especially the texture of your blanket. Shawls are great for travelling: last summer I crocheted a shawl, this year I am going to knit one during our summer vacation :)
