Yarn Along, a False Alarm, and a Far Away Daughter

~ Two of my favorite things are knitting and reading, and the evidence of this often shows up in my photographs.  I love seeing what other people are knitting and reading as well.

We have a new baby due in a few weeks.  From the beginning my daughter believed her "dates" were not the same as the Dr.s.  In the last couple of days she has felt a significant baby drop and has begun to truly "nest".  Today contractions were very regular for hours and since the Dr. believes there is still 4 weeks to go, they sent my daughter in for observation.  After 3 doses of Terbutaline, the contractions did cease and she was sent home, but guess what?  Tonight is  a full moon and not only that, it is a blue moon!  So we may have a baby anyway!  Keep us in your prayers!

Daughter 3, Caitlin, is on a fantastic trip with her former college roommate.  They have spent several days in London.

And are now in Turkey which is her roommate's home.  These are cave dwellings in Cappadocia.

As I write, she is on an overnight bus to Ephesus.  Can you say "worried mother?"  Prayers?

If you haven't seen the completed Haruni, read the post.  I love it!  And since I seen to be in shawl mode, I decided to cast on 2 more!

I needed more lace and spent hours looking through Ravelry and my books.  I had my eye on this for a while and since I had enough of Knit Picks Bare Fingering, I decided to begin.  I wanted a white or ivory shawl to through on over or with anything.  This yarn was price conscious and nice to handle.  The pattern is Cat's Paw Square Shawl from Traditional Knitted Lace Shawls.  You really have to pay close attention as the pattern changes every other round.  But, because of that, I cast on shawl 2 just so I could have something not so "needy".

This is Wrapped in Leaves from the e-book Botanical Knits.  I love every pattern in this book!  I am using Madeline Tosh DK Twist in the new Chicory colorway.  I couldn't find a link to it.  The non-lace pattern is perfect to alternate with the other shawl.  Wonder which will win!

I am still reading The Birth House.  My reading time dwindles considerably these days after having so many little ones to care for.  But, I added a new book today.

I am hungry for reading about Scripture.  Scott Hahn is a Catholic convert who is highly educated in Biblical Theology.  His writing is easy to read, but text that you want to take slow and read again and again.

He writes, " The Word of God is not a book.  It is a divine person ( see John 1:1). In Jesus, God has spoken and revealed himself.  We receive that revelation in its fullness in the Scriptures and the sacred tradition preserved and announced by the Church."

Can I say LOVE!   I am beginning my second year of Bible Study in just a few weeks.  Matthew this year.  I want to consume this book before my study begins.

As always, joining up with the sweet Ginny for Yarn Along.  As of writing, her site is down, so no link!
