Yarn Along

Oh my hands have been so full this week!  I'm sure you noticed there have been no posts since this time last week.  And I am sure you have noticed no progression on that shawl.  It is still nesting in that basket by my chair.

We had a wedding party this past weekend and then some wedding casualties the next day.  Finding out that a few pieces of music my daughter wants at the liturgy cannot be played and a few other dramas concerning gifts. Sunday afternoon, a niece and my oldest daughter came to help put the invitations together.  Mimosas all around!!

And this week, while my granddaughter is here, potty training is happening:). Remember what a workout that is?  Every 30 minutes:)

Don't be sad if next week's picture is the same.  The Bridesmaid shower is this weekend and then invitations are mailed on Monday!  From that I promise to post pics!  73 days!

Yarn Along....Complete

You can tell by the piece of paper I'm a month behind.  Notes are laying on most every surface.  Mr.Golfer has been warned not to touch or throw away any piece of paper.  I know where they are and what the are for. Such is the life when you are 80 days away from a wedding.

The secret knitting is finished, but not blocked.  I'm waiting for the invitations to be off my dining room table so I can spread it out to block.  I've picked up the Pie Shawl I was working on during a little break in May.  Soft colors and sugarcane yarn.  My eyes needed the change and my hands the respite.

Yarn Along

This may look like the same picture, but I am 2 rows away from completing the bind off!  My finish date was today and I will make it.  Next week, a blocked project and something new on the needles.

My knitting mojo has diminished some with all the wedding planning, but I guarantee these needles will continue to click.

Yarn Along

I so wanted to show you great progress and there probably is about a new inch, but this past weekend shoved me to the curb.  Four events ( not all wedding related) pretty much did me in.  Lots of details to be worked out on Monday along with having two grands here.

Oh well you don't want to hear complaining.  Love this picture of three of the girls and myself and of course the one with the bride to be.  It was a lovely shower.

Monday. my friend Betsie and I, really got down to business with the flower girl dresses.  They are now all together sans buttonholes and hems.  Buttonholes tomorrow and then I will slowly get the hems end.  I want to save that small detail until as close to the wedding as possible in anticipation of any growth spurts.  But there are 4 saves to monogram and put together, so that is next on my plate.

Yarn Along

Oh my friends!  A week away!  Just crazy.  There has been knitting happening and I have set a finish date of the end of July.  At that point what is done is done.  It should be fine.

109 days until the wedding and we are now in VERY busy mode.  Every day more details to attend to.  The napkins are complete and quite pretty I think.  Some special sewing is going on that again I have to keep secret, but you'll see at some point.

My best friend arrives Friday and we are going to churn out 4 little flower girl dresses.  I have the bodices sewn already, so it is the skirts and monogramed sashes that need to be finished. And the first wedding shower is Sunday and I'm so happy Betsie will be here.  We raised our 8 combined children side by side and in close and far away distances.  Thirty three years we've been the best of friends and even though distance still keeps us apart, we just pick up where we left off each time we are together.

Look for lots of pictures soon!!  Linking up with Ginny!

Yarn Along

It's midnight and I am sitting up trying to relieve this back pain so I can sleep.  Today was such a busy day I totally forgot to take my knitting pictures and here I am in the half-light with my iPad trying to capture something worth posting.

The extra yarn came and I am back working on the second secret knitting.  My goal is to finished by the end of this month.  That means I really have to push myself to sit in the evenings and knit.  That doesn't sound like it should be hard, but there are so many things taking me away.

This evening I completed the last of the 34 napkins.  As beautiful as they are, I am happy to be finished.  I have a baby shower next week as well and burp diapers need to be monogramed now.

The summer schedule has begun with the grandchildren.  We have been to the zoo this week, but today is Library day.  Story time is at 10:00 and then checking out books before we arrive home for naps.

I never seem to stop:(

Yarn Along

I know I have been absent a lot from this space.  Wedding plans are keeping me very busy.  We had bridal portraits yesterday and although I can't post any pictures of my daughter, I can give you this one little sneak.

We are also moving rooms around in our house in preparation for company this summer and you know you can never move or clean out just one room.  It always multiplies!

So my knitting has been sitting in this space for most of the week.  I have picked it up and worked on it, but not much progress.

Mr. Golfer leaves tomorrow on his annual men's golf trip.  The days he is gone are very quiet, but I do get a lot accomplished when I'm not having to plan meals and such:)))

Yarn Along

I think these pictures look relatively the same from last week although I may have added an inch.  It certainly is a good thing this secret knitting is not due tomorrow!  There is time to complete it.  It's just that so many other things are keeping me away from it.

But the pattern is just a 2 row repeat, so easy to pick up and down. And I always love Knit Picks Shine.  Pima Cotton is one of my favorites to knit with.

Those boxes are about to leave my house.  We send the invitations to the calligrapher Friday.  And there is just a little peek of the inside.  A very pale blue letterpress design with navy blue text.  They are just stunning.

I'm about 10 pages away from finishing Mrs. Grant.  A good story but simple.  I did learn a couple of new historical facts.  This could certainly be part of your summer reading!

I took all these photos with my iPad this morning.  We have had several rainy, gloomy days and the temp in North Texas this morning is 47!  So the pictures are not the best.  Sun is expected later today and for days to come!

Yarn Along...Lost Knitting

I did.  I lost my knitting.  Bag and all. I have taken cars apart, called every place I was on Saturday, and looked in every nook an cranny in this house.  Friends, it is gone.  I'm stumped and very sad.  The bag contained the second part of the secret knitting.  I was only about 10 rows in, but my new, beautiful stitch markers were all through the stitches.

So..what did I do?  Well... I began the project again, but this time I used a different yarn ( Knit Picks Shine).  It was what I had and the color will work just as well as the previous blue.  I purchased new stitch markers as well.  I love these!!!! I have used tons of markers, but these are now my very favorite stitch markers. They open like a safety pin so you can insert them as you knit or put them into select stitches.

So if you are out and about and you come across this bag......

Yarn Along

Disappointedly, the picture above is the same from last week.  Such a simple pattern should not cause me to frog it 3 times!!!  But, alas, I did and I think this time I have all the markers in the right place.  This is the second part of the secret knitting and it should progress fairly quickly.

The yarn is Berocco Vintage in a navy colorway.  Perfect with the white from the first half.

Yarn Along

Half of the secret knitting is finished.  I wish I could tell you what it is and the occasion, but not just yet.   It was so large I had to improvise on how the blocking.  There still wasn't enough room, but it worked. The other half is being cast on and you will be seeing that project in the next weeks.  Same yarn, Berocco Vintage, but this in navy blue.

I didn't take a picture but have hopped on the Kristin Lavransdatter group and checked it out from the library.  It's huge.  We shall see!

Wedding planning's kicked into full gear here.  Six months out and so much to do.  Bus reservations tomorrow and hopefully the list to the calligrapher finalized!
