Yarn Along....Isn't She Lovely!

~ Two of my favorite things are knitting and reading, and the evidence of this often shows up in my photographs.  I love seeing what other people are knitting and reading as well. So, what are you knitting or crocheting right now? What are you reading?

She is finished. I think she is lovely.  I picture the little babe all wrapped and snuggled in this piece of my heart.  The Lullaby Blanket has long been a favorite and this is the second time I have knit it.  The yarn is Knit Picks Comfy Sport.  This yarn has proven its durability over the years as I have used it for each of my grandchildren's blankets.  It washes and dries beautifully.

When I gift a treasure such as this, a special box is in order.  I never use wrapping paper for any gift as I feel I am simply dropping dollar bills in the trash. Instead, I purchase these very nice boxes from The Container Store.  They have a shiny wax finish on them unlike a simple shirt box.  No paper needed.  Just a pretty bow.  These boxes can be saved and reused for many years. In fact, a large one under the armoire in my bedroom contains mine and my daughters wedding veils!

I have now picked back up the Aranami Shawl. I began this last summer in a cotton yarn and didn't like it.  Now in Blue Sky Alpaca it is perfect.  I  hope to finish in time to get a little wear before spring.

I find my self drawn to The Reed of God.  A devotion to our Blessed Mother, this is a timeless guide.  I even sat in  Mass this last Sunday and read prior to the Liturgy beginning.  It helped block out the chatter of voices that seem to be so common now.

What is on your needles?

  1. Wanda, the baby blanket is beautiful, an heirloom for sure. I hope when I have another grandchild I can knit something just as beautiful. I didn't knit when my one and only Emerson was born, but now I'm waiting [a little impatiently] for another grand child.

  3. This is so beautiful. I have been knitting a few baby blankets recently and have bought this pattern and ordered the wool. What a challenge this will be. Now to finish some of the wip before the wool arrives.

  7. I just love your baby blanket! Those kind of gifts are beyond wonderful. I'm always sad when I see someone who doesn't get the value and love of a gift like that. You did an amazing job!

    1. This really is a simple knit that just has an insane amount of stitches. The circular cast on is trick, but once past that nothing complicated. Just knit,purl,yo,k2tog,ssk.

I just love it, esp. with the words; what a treasure! the Mother of God (your reading) is so near to us who call on her; we are so blessed, beyond measure. Thank God. ... also great to hear about those boxes, thank you! I am going to be making some special things in the next months God willing and will keep this in mind for boxes!
