The activities of the day got the best of me, so I apologize in advance for the darkness of the pictures. It was dusk before I arrived home and remembered I needed to snap these.
I mentioned before that a very good friend of ours loves my knitting. He received the first pair of men's socks I ever knit. His birthday is fast approaching and he has mentioned more than once he would love something made from mink yarn. The yarn alone was not a sufficient weight, so I paired it with alpaca and created a knit 6, purl 3 pattern. It went fairly quickly on # 9 needles. I will name the pattern after it's soon to be owner.... Rush. Today and tomorrow would have been good days for him to have it as we are in for our first freeze tonight. But, as you can see, it is still drying from it's bath.
On the reading front.... daughter Caitlin encouraged me to read The Girl with the Pearl Earring by Tracy Chevalier. Not a new book, but I had read a previous selection by her and really liked it and this one does not disappoint. I am 1/2 way through!
The No Purl Monkey socks have been in time out while I worked on the scarf, but they are now back in the basket and the current project.
May I ask for prayers for a special intention? More details later. Thank you.
Linking up with Ginny today! Aren't the baby pictures wonderful! Best wishes to the family as the welcome little Job!
May God bless and keep you all!
ReplyDeleteYour scarf is lovely. I like the simple pattern. It is so elegant. I'm eager to know what you think of that book. I've been thinking about reading it for some time.
ReplyDeleteIs it a scarf? Laid out on your table like that, I initially thought it was a table runner. It would look lovely as both.
ReplyDeleteYes. It is being blocked on the table.
Deletebeautiful scarf and love the angle of the photo! this time change is crazy! I keep forgetting to snap way earlier than usual.
ReplyDeletewonderful scarf! Sending up a prayer for you now!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful yarn, I really enjoyed the Girl with the Pearl Earring. Deb x
ReplyDeletei'm not ready, either, for 5 o'clock to mean bedtime!! (just kidding, but we often look at the clock after what seems like hours of darkness and find it's really only 7:30 instead of the 10 pm we thought it must be!!!) Was the mink everything you dreamed it would be???? A LYS had some....but I thought I would be one #1s to knit something and didn't really have anything in mind. HMMMM maybe gloves????
ReplyDeleteI rally wasn't fond of the mink. Even after a bath it didn't soften up as much as I would like. Maybe it is just this distributor. Another might be nicer. I made some fingerless mitts last year for another friend and used the same mink. She likes them. I'm not convinced.
