Yarn Along

Last week the scarf for my friend was in the blocking stage.  Here is it all dry ad folded snuggling with the pumpkins before being wrapped.  He loved it!  It is always nice to have your knitting appreciated.

I always seem to complete a project on Mondays.  So again, my knitting has had a bath and is blocking.

I wish I were a better photographer.  It is not one of my strengths.  I promise I will work on it! This is a Mad Tosh yarn that has been in my stash for about 6 years.  There is a joke at my LYS about this yarn because it has tried to be 2 previous sweaters.  Both ended up being frogged for different reasons.  So it has set on the shelf waiting for the right project to call it's name.  That happens to you doesn't it?  Please say yes!
The pattern is Sanibel Cowl.  It was very quick to knit and well written.  I added one extra lace section.  It hits just at the top of the bust line which is what I was hoping.  Of course, next week you will see it all nice and folded. :)

This is a new yarn to my stash. Elemental Yarn is a product of Lazy Pi Farm.  The owner works at my LYS, so this is a shout out for her as well.  It is a fingering weight in the Sand and Sea colorway. 60% Superwash merino, 30% bamboo, and 10% nylon.  I don't have a project for it as yet, but I knew it wouldn't stay on the shelf long at the shop.  It jumped into my bag and here it is!

Tuesday is always library day. This is my gathering today.  Two of these had been on order.  The second from the top, The Worst Hard Times, was recommended here.  I love history and can't wait to begin reading.  But, this will probably come first:

A friend of mine posted a quote from this on FB and I was hooked.  Here is the quote:

That second paragraph has captured me.  Read it carefully.  How can your life not be changed?

Linking up today with Ginny.  It looks like from her pictures that the family is adapting well to the new baby, sweet Job.  Nothing is better than a new baby!

PS :  If all goes well I will be posting some pictures on Thursday at PHFR.  You don't want to miss them!

  2. Yes, I think as we knit more we learn to listen to our yarn and let it decide what it wants to become. Your yarn wanted to be a cowl not a sweater, it knew ;)
Thanks so much for sharing the quote, so true.

  4. I love that scarf pattern, and I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one that has yarn that is very particular about what it gets made into and has had to frog waaaay too much work because of it. :P

  5. Thanks for mentioning Elemental Yarn - it's exactly what I'm looking for. Now all I have to do is find out where to buy it (I sent the lady an email). "Celebration of Discipline" was a favorite in the Presbyterian church that we went to for many years. It was probably my favorite christian book (after CS Lewis') before I became Catholic. Now I have so many new ones to read that I never would have considered before!
