Yarn Along

~ Two of my favorite things are knitting and reading, and the evidence of this often shows up in my photographs. I love seeing what other people are knitting and reading as well. So, what are you knitting or crocheting right now? What are you reading?

Complete. I took some very nice pictures this morning while the  light was perfect.  Of course this evening the camera would not cooperate.  So iPad pictures and my bed :(

After blocking, it is certainly larger than I had planned.  Lot's of wrapping a little one in this blanket!  The colors came together well.  Just enough pink to know it is a girl.  This mother didn't want " all things pink".

It is the quickest I have ever knit a  blanket. June 3 - July 5 per Ravelry.  Wow!  Let's hope this next one is as quick.  I have a sweater for a granddaughter waiting in the wings.

The chevron fabric was a surprise find and should make a nice Drawstrings  gift bag in a laundry size for the nursery.

Currently on the needles is Erica's Blanket.  Since the original is a take on the Rocketry Cardigan, I decided to name it for the recipient.  This mother is using lilac, gray and white and I am just adding the colors as the feeling strikes.  The seed stitch row at each color change gives a wonderful texture to an otherwise simple stockinette pattern.  I really love this blanket.

My library trip turned up on e very good book.  Fr. James Martin is a well known priest and has written many books of theology.  This one does not disappoint.  Based on his trip to the Holy Land, his biblical knowledge, and priestly experience, he takes us on a journey in a style I have never read.  A thick book, but an easy read.

Prayer for the Stolen is a work of fiction, but takes place in Mexico and tells the life of a young girl trying to avoid the Cartel.  A different read for me, but it drew me in.

As always, I look forward to Wednesdays and linking up with Ginny!

  1. Are you creating the garter stitch at the edges as you go, or will you add it later? Pretty colors.

    1. This one has a seed stitch border. 6 stitches on each end. Hard to see in these pictures!

  2. What a beautiful blanket, I love the colours. Thanks for taking part in my giveaway and in answer to your question about the tag, I made it myself. It's just a plain white luggage tag stamped with some rubber stamps I had in my stash. Deb x

  9. I love that blanket. The chevron pattern is not too cutesy. I like the chevron fabric also. The sweater you are knitting is quite pretty also. Grey, white and lavender is a great combination.

  11. Would you believe I've never seen a knitted chevron blanket?? Up until a few years ago I was all things crochet and am still finding knitted surprises around every corner. I love the color combinations! (Found you through my friend Elizabeth's blog {little rose}.)
