Like Riding a Bicycle

This is the sort of activity I was always involved in when my daughters were in elementary school.  It's pretty standard for Catholic schools ( or private schools for that matter) to have an auction to raise money.  Usually I was a room mother or helper to the room mother and involved in organizing the class project. Eight years of elementary school x's 4 daughters.  Thirty two projects!

Now look what I am doing!  This is for my oldest grandson's Pre K class at his Catholic school.  The teachers and a few mothers worked hard to get all the children's hand prints on squares I had pre-cut.  One block of 4 squares sewn together is all the hands making a heart.  Then there is a block of 2 squares for the teacher's hand prints and a scripture they chose.

I spent the better part of the weekend putting the top together. Later this week I will add the backing and complete it.  I think I will hand tie it rather than machine quilt.

Check back in on Wednesday's Yarn Along and you will see a completed secret knitting project!  Well....it's only half of it.  Notice I have cast on the other half in navy:)

New Shop Banner!

I have this wonderful young women that jumped on helping me with my blog when Drawstrings was born.  She just happened to comment to me on my blog and changes began to happen!  I love you Pepper!!

The new banner is just so cute.  I'm in love with the color and how bright and attracting it is. I do think it says so much about what my shop is about.

I felt like bright colors were needed today. The sun is shining this morning and a cool breeze is blowing through the garden.  So here we have bright colors with flowers, bees and Maine blueberries!

Oh how I would love to be in Maine this summer! But, Mr. Golfer and I are planning a northwestern trip in September.  A very good friend of ours has a son getting married in Idaho and since Caitlin is now in West Yellowstone, we are seriously planning a driving trip.  Six days on the road.  We love to drive on our vacations.  So much to see and we have not been in this direction.  We have always traveled east.
I was born in Wyoming, but have no memory of being there, so this will be very fun for me!

I am on the last section of the Zip Blanket.  I spent much time over the weekend frogging! Purling when I should have been knitting!

Tools of the Trade

Etsy shop lesliewind

I love unusual tools in my crafts.  Steph at Woolythyme reminded me that I had received some items for Christmas and had never posted.  Sometime during Advent when I was searching around on Etsy, these popped up and I sent the links to Mr. Golfer.  On Christmas morning they were nestled in the branches of our tree.

I am klutzy when it comes to cable needles.  They usually end up on the floor or under a piece of furniture.  I had been toying with an idea of a cable needle necklace for some time when I stumbled across this one on Etsy.  Much more well designed than what I had in mind!  I have not used it yet, but as I finish on the Lullaby blanket, I am searching patterns to try it out.
The needles are copper and silver and I just could not resist asking for them.  They are somewhat soft as I used them to do some button repair on my granddaughter's coat.  The coat fabric was a loose weave and I didn't have a needle anywhere at my daughter's home.  They felt really nice in my hand and I think using them for weaving loose ends will be divine!
